ISO 14001: A Milestone in Environmental Commitment

At Benchmark, we have always been dedicated to delivering high-quality fitted furniture whilst making sure sustainability remains at the core of our operations. We are proud to announce that we have achieved ISO 14001, marking a significant step in our commitment to environmental responsibility.

What is ISO 14001?

ISO 14001 is an internationally recognized standard for environmental management systems (EMS). It provides a framework for organizations to minimise their environmental footprint, comply with legal requirements, and continually improve sustainability practices. Achieving this certification means that Benchmark has successfully implemented an EMS that meets stringent global standards.

Our Journey Towards ISO 14001 Certification

Our journey towards ISO 14001 certification involved a comprehensive evaluation of our processes, policies, and environmental impact. We focused on:

Reducing Waste and Energy Consumption – We implemented more efficient resource management strategies to minimise waste and reduce energy usage. This includes utilising waste wood to heat the factory, repurposing offcuts for new products, and transitioning to LED lighting for improved energy efficiency.

Sustainable Sourcing – We partnered with suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. This means materials are responsibly sourced and environmentally friendly.

Eco-Friendly Operations – We have integrated electric vehicles and forklifts into our operations to reduce our carbon footprint and lower emissions.

Compliance with Regulations – We ensured full adherence to environmental laws and industry regulations, maintaining the highest standards of environmental responsibility.

Looking Ahead

While achieving ISO 14001 certification is a proud milestone, our commitment to environmental responsibility does not stop here. We will continue to refine our sustainability efforts, innovate our processes, and set new standards in environmental management.

As part of our ongoing improvements, we plan to introduce policies and practices such as more waste bins for segregated waste, with clear signage to ensure proper disposal, and regular training sessions with staff to reinforce best practices in waste management and environmental sustainability, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
