Project Brief
The Cromer Macmillan Centre is a purpose-built healthcare facility in Norfolk, designed to provide high-quality cancer care and support services within a calm and
welcoming environment. The building accommodates consulting rooms, treatment areas, procedure rooms, recovery zones, and staff spaces, each requiring
furniture and fittings that meet strict clinical, hygiene, and safety standards.

Benchmark FF&E Solutions was engaged to design, manufacture, and install all fitted furniture across clinical treatment rooms, consultation spaces, nurse bases,
staff areas, and public-facing reception zones. Key considerations included durability, hygiene, accessibility, and compliance with healthcare specifications.
- Worktops & Sinks: 40mm thick laminate and solid-surface worktops across clinical, recovery, procedure, and staff areas, with pre-installed stainless steel sinks
and taps. - Base & Wall Storage Units: Lockable cupboards, drawers, tall units, and shelving for clinical storage, linen, and office supplies, including ABS baskets in clinical
areas for organisation. - Office & Reception Furniture: Custom nurse desks, U-shaped reception desk with access flap, and staff rest area units, designed for ergonomics, workflow
efficiency, and durability. - Shelving: Non-breakable shelves in WCs and adjustable spur shelving in linen and utility stores for safe, flexible storage.
- Materials & Finishes: High-quality laminate and powder-coated steel, designed for hygiene, durability, and ease of maintenance.
- Full OTIF Delivery & Installation: Ensured the Centre was fully operational without disruption.
Implementation
The project’s key objective was to furnish the Cromer Macmillan Centre with robust, compliant, and easy-to-maintain furniture systems that support the
operational needs of healthcare professionals and enhance patient comfort. Key considerations included clinical hygiene, accessibility, security of storage, and the
creation of an uplifting, professional atmosphere. All items were designed and installed in accordance with NHS specifications and HTM71 storage guidance.
Clinical spaces, including procedure rooms, recovery rooms, and consultation areas, were fitted with secure, lockable units, ergonomic worktops, and sinks to
support safe patient care.
- Nurse bases and reception areas were designed for workflow efficiency, with bespoke desks and storage to support staff operations.
- Staff and utility areas incorporated robust, hygienic worktops and storage for cleaning, laundry, and refreshments.
- Adjustable shelving, cabinets, and wall units ensured accessible storage while maintaining clinical hygiene standards
