Project Brief

Houstone School was a new secondary education facility designed to provide an exceptional learning environment for pupils across a wide range of academic and
practical subjects. The project required high-quality, durable furniture and fittings throughout specialist teaching spaces, sports facilities, and administrative areas.

Benchmark FF&E Solutions were appointed to deliver a full furniture, fixtures, and equipment package designed to complement the building’s modern learning
spaces and ensure functionality, safety, and ease of maintenance for staff and students alike.

Implementation

Benchmark provided full design development, manufacture, and installation of fitted furniture and equipment across teaching, science, art, ICT, and sports areas.
The focus was on creating robust, safe, and functional environments tailored to each department’s needs, ensuring compliance with educational standards and
delivering on schedule within the contractor’s programme.

Our Solution:

  • Safety & Durability: Robust construction with Trespa TopLab BASE, postformed laminate worktops, powder-coated steel frames, and solid Ash peg rails acrossclassrooms, specialist teaching spaces, staff areas, and storage rooms, ensuring long-term strength and safety.
  • Accessibility & Inclusivity: Adjustable workstations, knee-space panels, and clear circulation routes implemented in classrooms, labs, and staff areas to providecomfort and usability for all students and staff.
  • Hygiene & Practicality: Easy-clean, moisture-resistant finishes and durable stainless steel or epoxy resin sinks installed in science labs, art rooms, prep areas,and staff facilities to support daily maintenance and hygiene.
  • Secure Storage: Custom MFC shelving, tray units, and wall cabinets with impact-resistant edging provided across 40+ storage rooms, classrooms, labs, andoffices for organised, secure storage of exam materials, art supplies, cleaning equipment, and ICT resources.
  • Aesthetic & Environment: Cohesive design using modern laminates, timber detailing, and sleek finishes applied throughout classrooms, specialist areas,offices, and circulation spaces, creating a professional, welcoming, and visually unified environment.

Result

Benchmark FF&E Solutions successfully designed, manufactured, delivered, and installed a complete FF&E package meeting all technical specifications and educational requirements. The project was completed to programme and fully coordinated with other trades to ensure seamless integration across teaching and support areas.

  • Spec Compliance: All installations met DfE and contractor standards for safety, accessibility, and durability, and fully achieved the agreed design specification, including colour schemes, materials, and finishes throughout classrooms, specialist areas, and offices.
  • Snag-Free Completion: Delivered on time and fully installed to client satisfaction, with quality assurance sign-off and minimal post-handover adjustments.
